Agenda full
Our renovation agenda is suddenly unusually & uncomfortably packed full. Well, it's always bursting at the seams, but nowadays it's as if there's urgency to it. It's what I now call the "little S syndrome" Before it was just us and who gives a hooty if your shower is outside off the courtyard in an decidedly unheated, boxy little niche? After all, there's too many other VIP projects looming to worry about the act of showering. Well, now with "little S" around (born in Fall for those not in the know) it's not just about us, it's about him too. We still have all our VIP projects right there at the top, but add the little tyke into the mix and you have a whole slew of OTHER projects elbowing their way to the top too, like:
The metal stairs
Need to be painted and screwed down better. Need wood treads made and attached. Need to search out and protect sharp edges. PBDT (potential baby death trap)
The rear balcony
Took the whole thing apart and refinished the wood while pregnant. Needs to be re attached soon. Will the new floor boards fit? Hmmm. Very big PBDT!
The stucco walls
Stopped halfway through this froo-froo decorating project due to other VIP matters. Now the stucco is creating dust (more dust...as if...) and it's rough on little unwary hands. It needs painted!
The unsalvageable kitchen & dining room wood floors
We aren't keeping these floors but in the meantime they are grungy, splintery and full of sharp, broken nailheads. Could make for a particularly memorable first crawling experience.
And the list goes on.
However, rudely barking in a "me first" voice is the agenda's front page project: the need to do structural work upstairs VERY SOON so that S can have his own bedroom. And the need for the completed bathroom has also become a higher priority lately too for sanity reasons. Not sani-TAR-y reasons but san-I-ty. We can still shower just fine in the niche don't worry. It's just that S is outgrowing his baby tub and stuffing him inside it is getting to be an amusing task.
But life goes on and babies grow. So, unfortunately do home improvement project lists.
