Coping with away-ness

Although I'm an ocean away from France I haven't thought about the house ... well not much. Well actually not so much at all. Well actually let me be frank, not really at all. It's kind of like that bad relationship guy syndrome. I'll try to forget him, I mean IT. I'll get over him...uh, IT (long distance always helps), and then something will suddenly remind me of him ...eek I mean IT. Then my heart will flutter with the anticipation about what's happening with IT while I'm not there. Yesterday for example I saw a built in bookshelf in a magazine and there it was again. I was smitten. I got all pulled in again and my thoughts wandered back to the house.

Never fear, I do spend an awful lot of time complimenting people's doorknobs, trim work, and kitchen faucets on this side of the Atlantic. They often just sort of turn to me with a vacant look and say something like, "oh yeah, uh that came standard when we bought the house." And then it suddenly occurs to me that not everyone who owns a home has an obsessive fixation with every single minute detail of their house's interior.

Poor slobs. They have no idea what they're missing.

That's right it's all about the minutae- I am totally with you on that ;oP

we're making our own works of art out of our respective houses. I bet you'll be refreshed after the break though too.

nice to hear from you.
