Clearing out the room
We completely cleaned out our living room in preparation for the arrival of the fireplace. The room looked so lovely without all of our things cluttering the space. The installers are starting their work on the fireplace this week.
We were pleased to the finally be able to throw away the ugly carpet that was put down as a temporary measure. That carpet served us well in "the baby is coming, quick cover the floor!" emergency of Summer 2003.
The fireplace will be installed on this wall, which is just opposite the stairs. Look how we have to hold up the entire second floor with that brace. Scary huh?
Under the stairs we have a lovely little niche that used to be a closet. For the past year it's made a nice place to stash all our tools. Someday it will become a closet again. Alas, we hope.
