Ready, aim, and fire ...

We finally have the fireplace installed and I'm speechless. It's beyond wonderful. We have been delighted for days. The installers were five burly men who made my life very difficult over 5 days, but I have to digress because they made it possible to start using the chimney right away! Yep, we've been enjoying relaxing in front of the fire all weekend long. This quickly made up for all those nasty cigarettes butts left on my floors (they smoked in my house), doors left open to the cold and the trudging of dirt and grime through my kitchen. And I'd do it all over again if I had to; no problem.

Thanks to a ventilation system we also had installed, the heat gets distributed throughout the entire house. No more radiators! No more huge gas bills! It really does heat the entire house too. We were finding ourselves almost overwhelmed by the heat and had to regulate the blower several times to compensate for the heatwave. As it was we were stripped down to our t-shirts and whatnots. The only downside is that you really have to keep an eye on things and keep a good fire going all the time, otherwise it gets cold in the house quickly.

I'm eager to post pictures. I have to find my damn battery charger though and baby S is not telling where he put it. I probably won't get them posted until after Christmas since were off on an in-law expedition over the weekend.

Happy holidays everyone!

yay! I am so happy for you. Are gas prices as crazy there as they are here? If so, you were just in time with your fireplace.

What a great x-mas present to yourselves- enjoy!
