Terrace with a view

One of our most recent projects is installing a terrace on the back of the house, a brilliant idea Seb came up with last year. Well, the idea actually sort of evolved. The terrace started off as a replacement for the sagging balcony, then it grew into an idea for an expanded balcony and eventually it pretty much become the concept for a sprawling toddler play area and elevated garden.

Here's the work in progress as Seb digs holes in the neighbor's shared wall for beam placement and Little S does his part to help out.

The terrace leads out from the living room and we love the idea that in the summer we can leave the back doors to the house open and feel like we have a whole other room. There's also the stunning view of the lake we'll gain when you walk out near the end of the terrace, something we've always wanted to take advantage of but didn't know how to do it.

In a few weeks we should have our special ordered plastic-wood planks for the decking to place across the beams and then it's just a question of installing the barrier railings. It's just too bad that Summer is nearly finished. I guess we'll be doing some Fall grilling to celebrate.

Chris is back! Your little guy sure has grown too. I hope you had a more fun summer than we have :)

Next summer will be the summer of fun for us- we are making a pact.
