Front porch redux
I've been working a lot on the front of our house this summer and one project has been the porch just off of the kitchen. We often eat there and the floor was starting to show the wear and tear of mislaid french fries and pasta pieces, not to mention all those "baby is learning the fine art of eating" skills being carried out since springtime.
Since the old rotting boards had been replaced last year with new ones we'd never been rushed to tint or varnish them. The porch isn't exposed to the elements so we couldn't see the point. Then there was just a lazy streak kind of looming right after our trip to the States last year and it kept getting shoved into the TO DO bin instead of the TO DID bin.
So the porch has a new dark tint and a few coats of marine varnish on the wood. It took me three days and caused a lot of headaches because of the incessant rain. Add to that an inquisitive toddler & you'll see why the simplest projects can sometimes become the most maddening of all.
Here is a before with sleeping baby resting peacefully. Ignore his cuteness if you can and focus on those dirty, naked floor boards:

Some after shots:

Welcome back to bloggyland! Missed you, dahling. Also, I was too distracted by the cute child to notice the floors in the Before pic, but the After pic looks great! ;)
